Adding colour - one room at a time - The family room

29 August 2011

I had put off this room for soooooo long.
It was a tricky one....
I knew when I tackled this room it would mean coordinating it with the kitchen and the large hallway.
This room is multi- function....it is our dining room....the girls use it as their playroom....
Briony has a desk for her homework....
and the couches and TV are a favourite spot for the family throughout the day.
This room also leads to the outdoor area....and has two hallways visible.

There were so many corners.....angles....and colours visible.....I had no idea how to attack it.

So for months....I didn't.

Then back when I had a week off work....I decided to just make a start....and see where it went.

The walls got a coat of my 'go to' Solver- Beaver..
I hung the first of my pieces of wall art.

and finally.... I can see the beginnings of it coming together.
I'm looking forward to seeing where it ends up.

Awesome Mardi...LOVE old metal signs, where did you find yours? I've seen so many cool ones on Etsy but the cost and shipping to australia just makes them too expensive:( I've got lots of little projects going on around here...feels good to actually be putting some of these bright ideas into action...Can't wait to see the finished result of your room!

I love all those colourful cushions. I too have been thinking about painting some walls and making some changes to our lounge room but like you have taken a long time to decide what to do.

I recently framed some family photos and hung them up which makes the walls look much better. Small steps LOL :)

Have a great week from Susan McGuire (smiles1965 xxoo
