Cushion Project - Dudley and Grace

17 May 2016

It has certainly been awhile since I stitched anything for my my once Etsy store - Dudley and Grace.

However when I was approached a few weeks ago and asked if I could stitch a special custom order destined for some 'student host families' overseas....I couldn't say no.

On a foot note..I am so sad with Etsy and its rating system....and my very unfortunate experience. If you visit you will notice my very poor rating. I was devastated. After many years of running Dudley and Grace with a 100% rating I now I display as 1 star!
I wont go into the tale....other than to say....I lost a lot of sleep over those 2 negative comments and I doubt I will ever re-open..call me wounded.

  1. Oh Mardi these are beautiful. I'm so sorry about what's happened on easy. Surely there is something you can do about it. That's not fair.

    1. Thanks for your lovely support Mel....when I contacted them I was told that unfortunately there is a very small window to make a response to the negative comment... so even though all my conversations and rectifying occurred it cant change the rating...such a stupid system.
Oh and sorry for the late reply... just home from holidays!

  2. Oh I am sorry you were hurt by those nasty comments. I do not understand why people are mean. Social media in its many forms have opened up a whole other kind of nasty. On the happy side, those pillows are FANTASTIC, any student receiving one of these gems is going to be well chuffed receiving an heirloom for themselves.

    1. Thank for the lovely comment. I agree...mean and nasty comments are so unnecessary..especially when all my correspondence had been kind and apologetic for the mix up.... oh well. I am hoping these recipients are happy.
Oh and sorry for the late reply... just home from holidays!

  3. Oh Mardi I am hearing you, sadly Etsy has become too big for little people like us, its no longer a place for crafters to sell their wares but a billion dollar marketing businesses and you are wither all in or all out..rant over! On a positive note your treasures will find their way into special peoples homes and be much loved.....my little owl from Dudley and Grace (one of the originals) watches over me as I potter away in my craft space and ALWAYS btings a smile to my face - thank you keep up the great work!

    1. Oh that's so sweet to hear. My very first owls are among my most favourite actually.
It is sad that the friendly..crafty vibe has gone from Etsy..I always looked upon it as I was trading and chatting among friends... not always so anymore.
Thanks for the lovely comment of support... sorry for the late reply...I have just returned from holidays. x

  4. Hello Mardi!
I'm new here and I have spent all evening reading your posts here and from your other blog.
I saw the beautiful picture of you and Sian and something urged me to check your blog ;)
and I'm so glad I did because I love your style!
I am too so sorry you had to deal with people's nastiness!
Why is it that negativity affects us so much more and positivity does?

    Greetings from Chicago~

    1. Helllooooo....and how lovely to have you visit and say hello.
How amazing that I was able to meet one of my most favourite story tellers and crafters Sian on my travels... so special! Its so nice of you to follow on over.
Your final comment made me ponder...how true... we accept positive comments as though we dont really deserve them.... but a negative one goes straight to the heart...we have it all wrong!
We only arrived home this week.... so my apologies for taking so long to reply.
      Mardi x
