A handmade wardrobe.... first up... Imby's Flowy Top

The idea really took hold while we were travelling the East Coast this year... and I just couldn't let it go.

What if I decided to make most of my own clothes.

Sewing clothing is certainly not new to me... I have sewn a lot over the years... but actually sewing things I love and want to wear has always been a bit 'hit and miss!'

The two biggest factors for me were...

1/ I haven't been solid on "What my personal style is"

2/ I do not have the funds to purchase the fabric I would love. Its honestly out of my budget.

I am quite sure that being away without access to my sewing machine actually worked in my favour because it gave me time really sort through my ideas and to gather inspiration.
By the time we arrived home I had collected quite a stack of fabric (some Op Shop finds and some from Spotlight) and decided on the patterns I would love to try.

I had also worked on what I thought my personal style was... I knew it was autumn toned and I loved basics.

One of my very first makes was this generous free pattern by Imby of Karmme Apparel -  "Imbys Flowy Top" .. I loved this pattern so much and I had the perfect piece of fabric that I had purchased in Mumbai this year.
Karmme Apparel has the most beautiful fabrics and patterns available if you love this flowy and relaxed style.

I guess we could say my handmade wardrobe is underway... I am really looking forward to creating a collection of clothes that I love to wear. I want patterns that fit me well and I know I feel good in. I also want to be very mindful of my budget and keep my costs low.
