Western Australia Trip - The Golf Courses

29 December 2023

I figured this was worth a post of its own.

When we left home on the 22nd May I declared golf was definitely not for me although I was more than happy to accompany Ian because I quite enjoyed the walk.

Little did I know that slowly slowly it would seep into my veins and that by the end of the trip I was equally as keen as he was.

Here is a little snippet of the courses we played.

1/ Coober Pedy Opal Fields Golf Club - 18 Holes -
"The course traverses the desert flats and gibber hills of Coober Pedy. The greens are black and the fairways are white! "
Ill also add - the flies were incessant!

2/ Derby The Boabs Golf Club - 18 Holes
"11 holes arranged to make a challenging 18 hole golf course with grass greens".

3/ The Broome Golf Club - 18 Holes
" one of the finest golf courses in the North West"
Also not one for beginners like me so I carried the sand bucket.

4/ Tom Price - Mountain View Golf Course - 18 Holes
This one was a little tricky.... there were a lot of rocks. We gave it a good shot though.

5/ Karratha Country Club - 18 Holes
"The course is now a fully grassed links course with no bunkers and undulating greens."

6/ Exmouth Golf Course - 18 Holes

7/Kalbarri Golf Course - 18 Holes
“the Hidden Jewel of Golf on the Mid West Coast.”
One of our favourite with so many kangaroos.

8/ Geraldton Golf Club - 18 Holes
This was a really lovely course with all the trees on a lean. I'm guessing it gets quite windy at times.

9/ Dongara Golf Club - 18 Holes
"The best kept secret north of Perth"
Absolutely beautiful, some big hill climbs and ocean views.

10/ Ledge Point Community Golf Course - 18 Holes
"Built over the sand dunes of Ledge Point the course has 18 holes laid over a 9 hole layout and will test golfers of all abilities."
We felt so welcomed here and it was a beautiful course.

11/ Bremer Bay Golf Club - 18 Holes
"Bremer Bay golf course is a spectacular 18 hole par 72 sandgreen links layout. It is designed around & over what were once sand dunes. The first nine is heavily wooded and is partly parkland in nature. The second nine is open links running close to the beach with magnificent ocean views."

12/ Hopetoun Everett Country Golf Club - 18 Holes
"a year round sand green golf club in Hopetoun Western Australia"

"Pink Lake Golf course is an 18 hole links golf course, with grass greens, in beautiful Esperance in Western Australia."
We played this course twice over the week we were in Esperance.

14/ Nullarbor Links Golf Course - we played Skylab, 90mile Straight, Eagles Nest and Windmills
"The Worlds longest golf course" - which we would have played more of if we didn't have to attend to a dog bite.

15/ Streaky Bay Golf Club - 18 Holes
No photos were taken - we were just enjoying the game with our dear friends.

I may have started this trip with no intention of being a golfer....  but I returned with an itch to play. I have since joined our local club and being playing each week and loving it.
