_ 10 FAQs

This post is for YOU if ... you have been thinking about diving into the world of Essential Oils but your mind is swirling with too many questions!

1 ) HOW DO I GET STARTED?
  • You can begin by getting your own Wholesale Account ..this is included FREE with one of the Starter Kits... or you can pay the $35.00 Wholesale Membership fee and choose your own products to get started. Read more information on the kits and ways to begin HERE

2 ) DO I HAVE TO ORDER EVERY MONTH?
  • Absolutely not! There is no obligation at all to order again. However once you begin this way of life... and see how easily you can switch your shopping...most people continue to order.
doTERRA offer a Loyalty Rewards Program with generous rewards and free product ...personally I love getting rewarded for shopping. But this program is totally optional!

3 ) DO I HAVE TO DO A BUSINESS?
  • Absolutely not! Most people enrolled with doTERRA Wholesale accounts are customers only.
(In fact I think its over 85% that are just happy Essential Oil users with no desire to operate as a business.) The opportunity is always there though should it appeal to you though.

4 ) HOW WILL I KNOW HOW TO USE MY OILS?
  •  This is one of the things I loved most about doTERRA.... from my first oils purchase I was aligned with a team that offered fantastic education.
It scares me when I see some of the ridiculous dilutions and applications given here and there on social media...I always suggest getting your information from a reliable source.
So when you join our oils community you will receive our education... guidance and support. We offer lots of recipes (Rollerball and Diffuser blends plus more) .. education programs and individual support.
I am available via text and messenger .. and send out a monthly recap email. Its important to me that everyone feels supported with their oils... especially around safe usage and dilution. You can also read more on safety and dilution HERE

5 ) WHERE DO I APPLY THE OILS?
    • This is such a great question! I am a big fan of using either a pre-made TOUCH rollerball.... or creating your own. This gives you the correct dilution to use topically and makes it easy to apply.
    • Another way you may like to apply topically is by adding a drop to a squirt of body lotion in your hand and then massaging in.
    • I often apply my rollerballs to the soles of my feet.... the story is that its absorbed better .... and I guess maybe it is.... after-all that is where Mum used to always rub the 'chest rub' when we were kids.... so the old wives must have known a thing or two. The other benefit is the Reflexology points are all on the bottom of our feet....so maybe that is an added bonus?
    • I also just use common sense... if its a tummy issue...I will rub the Digestzen into the tummy area.... if its the chest...rub Easy Air into the chest. I love Lavender to my wrists and the pulse points behind my ears. You may like to apply the emotional blends to the back of your neck where they enter the limbic system quickly. Down the spine is another popular place.
    • My favourite way to use my oils (other than in all my home care products) is in the diffuser.

6 ) WHAT ARE HOT OILS?
    • There are some oils that are considered HOT - you will need to use caution when using these oils topically and ALWAYS dilute well. You may also like to patch test first... and alter the location to avoid sensitivity. The oils to use caution with are - Cinnamon.. Cassia... Wintergreen.. Thyme... Oregano... Fennel...Lemongrass  and Clove. Also always dilute Ice Blue.

7 ) WHAT ARE CARRIER OILS?
    • Carrier Oils are what we use to dilute the Essential Oils for topical use.
Fractionated Coconut Oil (FCO) is a popular carrier oil but not the only one you can use. FCO is non-greasy and has no aroma... and it absorbs beautifully into the skin...making it a great choice. FCO always remains a liquid because it has had its long chain fatty acids removed meaning it does not solidify and its shelf life is longer.
    • Other carrier oils you could consider are Jojoba.. Almond.. Apricot kernel...Macadamia... etc.

8 ) WHAT DO I NEED TO CONSIDER FOR SAFETY?
    • I encourage everyone to read and become familiar with the safe dilutions and usage of Essential Oils. I always treat them as I would a pharmaceutical and use them with respect.
You can read some of my thoughts HERE .. I also regularly double check my facts and safety with the Robert Tisserand site.
    • Please use caution with children and dilute...dilute dilute if using topically. Keep the oils away from their reach.
    • If you are Pregnant or breast feeding please check for safe usage of oils. There are some that are considered safe and others to avoid. I refer often to the work of The Essential Midwife. Personally I would use extra caution during the first trimester with topical oils.. diffusing can offer such a lovely and safe way of receiving the benefits.
    • If you get oil in your eye...or its reacting on your skin dilute and wipe away with a carrier oil (or even olive oil) don't add water as oils and water don't mix.
    • Be cautions with citrus oils and the sun. Citrus oils are known to be Photosensitive meaning they make your skin more susceptible in the sun. If applying topically... add to areas that don't see the sun.
    • Do not use oils for food flavouring unless stated on the bottle.

    9 ) WHAT ELSE DO I NEED?
    • I would recommend everyone have a diffuser... its such a lovely way to gain benefits from the oils.  A diffuser creates a lovely mist via an ultrasonic vibration so there is no heat or steam.
    • I recommend getting a resource book or App for you phone  - My 5 favourite Apps are listed HERE
    • You may also like to get some rollerballs / sprays and other resources for your blends and DIYs... you can read more about my suggestions for those HERE.
